Syvret's Shootout Goal Leads Phantoms to Victory

BINGHAMTON – Danny Syvret buried the lone goal of a shootout Friday night, spurring his Adirondack Phantoms to a 3-2 win at Binghamton in the process.

After failed attempts by nine different players from both teams, the defenseman beat Binghamton’s Ben Bishop to end the festivities. The win was the second straight for the Phantoms, and the squad’s 15th of the 2012-13 season.

Adirondack jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period thanks to goals from Matt Ford and Brandon Manning, but the homestanding Senators tied it with back-to-back goals of their own before the stanza ended. Binghamton kept the pressure on, outshooting the visitors 46-33, but Adirondack’s Cal Heeter recorded 44 saves on the night, including 20 in the third period and overtime to preserve the tie.

The Phantoms complete their weekend schedule Saturday at Wilkes Barre-Scranton. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
