Regular Phantoms beat writer Michael Cignoli is on vacation and has once again entrusted his tough-to-fill skates to yours truly for the evening.
Tonight, the Adirondack Phantoms look to continue their strong play at home when they host the Rochester Americans at the Glens Falls Civic Center. This is the fourth meeting between the two teams, and Rochester has won two of the first three games between the squads.
The teams haven't squared off since Dec. 7, when the Phantoms dropped a 3-1 decision in Western New York despite outshooting the Americans 42-21. Rochester's Connor Knapp tallied 41 saves in the win, but he won't be with the squad tonight. Per the Rochester website, he was reassigned to the ECHL's Greenville Road Warriors Friday. There's still plenty of talent for the Americans between the pipes, though, as regular netminder David Leggio leads the league in wins, games, and total saves.
Despite Friday's setback, the Phantoms are 4-0-1 at home since March 8. They'll try to continue that stretch on Adirondack's Fan Appreciation Night.
The first faceoff is set for 7 p.m., and for live updates, you can follow me on Twitter at @AndrewChampagne.
